Team: Academic ProgramsThe Sarnia Sting Hockey Club holds the educational development of it players as one of its core values. To this end the team has developed strong bonds with the local secondary and post secondary community, most notably Northern High School and Lambton College. Education Consultant
Our consultant, Caroline White, has been an educator for more than 17 years. Caroline is currently the Curriculum Leader of Student Services at Northern Collegiate which allows her to facilitate access to education for Sting players of every age. Caroline has been involved with the team for five years and also currently serves as the Chairperson of the OHL Educational Consultants. Caroline and her husband Erin, have been longtime fans of Sting hockey! Northern High SchoolOur affiliate high school is an excellent educational institution that has been in partnership with the Sting for more than ten years. A full-curriculum and excellent learning environment meets all of our high-school aged players’ needs. General Manager Alan Millar, as well as the coaching staff, meet regularly with teachers to address any educational concerns or issues that may arise involving our players. Lambton College
Lambton College, located on the same property as the SSEC, makes interaction with this school convenient and extremely manageable for players. Players who have completed their secondary school education are encouraged by the Sting to attend Lambton College or another post-secondary institution. In fact, it is a team requirement that every player will be involved in some form of education whether it is ESL programs for import players, college, university or apprenticeship programs. University of WindsorThe Sarnia Sting Organization is very pleased that the University of Windsor is now offering a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Bachelor Program right here in Sarnia. This general studies program allows our players to attend classes while continuing their university education. Courses within this degree program allow for easy transfer into more specific programs such as Education or Business once a player has graduated from the OHL.
